A couple of days ago I just finished reading what I believe is one of the top books I have read in my life, “The Slight Edge,” by Jeff Olson and John David Mann. This is an incredible book that talks about how simple habits performed daily can compound and change the very course of one’s life over time.
Olson says that these slight edge habits or simple daily disciplines are both easy to do and easy not to do, and therein lies the challenge. To truly be successful in any area of your life, you must commit every fiber of your being to performing daily the slight edge habits that will take you to where you want to go.
The book is broken down into two parts: #1 – How the Slight Edge Works, and #2 – Living the Slight Edge. Each section of the book drives home the fact that simple daily habits can have massive life-changing effects in your life IF you commit to doing them EVERY DAY without fail–period.

The Slight Edge Curve – What That Means for You
The Slight Edge is absolutely packed with wisdom and copious anecdotes from individuals who have put the slight edge to work in their lives and have experienced incredible change. Here are ten nuggets of wisdom from Olson’s book, “The Slight Edge,” that I want to share with you.
Lessons from The Slight Edge
Successful people do what unsuccessful people are willing to do.
Successful people don’t look for shortcuts.
Successful people don’t hope for big breaks!
Successful people step onto the path of mastery, and once having arrived, they stay on the path for the rest of their lives.
Successful people never blame others or circumstances; instead, they take full responsibility for their lives.
Successful people practice the daily disciplines that are assured to take them to their final destination. They show up every day without fail, possessing a positive attitude and a burning desire backed by faith.
Successful people know how to use inertia to build momentum. They also know how to identify habits that do not serve them and replace those habits with ones that will serve them.
Successful people constantly take stock of their friends and the people with whom they spend their time always asking the question, “Do these people best represent where I want to be headed?” Successful people do not hesitate to disassociate themselves from negative, toxic people who threaten to drag them down.
Successful people read at least 10 pages of a transformational book every day.
Successful people work first on their philosophy because they know it is the source of their attitudes, actions, results, and ultimately, the quality of their lives.
If you are looking to make changes in your life because you are sick and tired of being sick and tired, “The Slight Edge” is for you. If you are not serious about making massive changes in your life then don’t waste your money.
