Are you stuck in life? Have you achieved all that you want? I have read and studied about success since I was a teenager, and I have come to liken the process of succeeding to that of a rocket ship struggling against the gravitational pull of the earth as it is headed for the heavens.

I know that we have all seen launches of the NASA Space Shuttle as it strains, shakes, and vibrates its way past the pull of the earth’s gravity, as the shuttle headed into space, and I think that succeeding is very much the same.

Are You Stuck in a Failure Orbit?

When we are seeking to achieve success, we are required to expend massive amounts of energy and effort only to seemingly move in painstakingly small increments.

And yet, if we persevere in our pursuit of success, we will blast into a success orbit that will propel us into a future and potentiality the likes of which we would have never dreamed.

If we stop our efforts, when working towards success, we will invariably get sucked back down by the gravitational pull of failure just as surely as the space shuttle would have abruptly stopped its ascent into the heavenlies had the astronauts cut off the booster rockets.

Don’t Cut Off the Booster Rockets Early

Unfortunately, most people give up or cut off the booster rockets well before they get beyond the gravitational pull of failure or non-success.  Staying in a particular orbit, whether a success orbit or a failure orbit requires very little energy; however, it takes tremendous energy to change one’s orbit, and most people simply do not want to put forth the effort to change their orbit.

So the easiest thing for most people is just to stay stuck in a failure orbit because it doesn’t require effort to move.  Changing one’s orbit flat-out takes serious, persistent, indefatigable effort until the desired success orbit is reached. The actual term for the energy required to change one’s orbit is called escape velocity.  Whether you are building an online business, learning a new skill, trying to lose weight, or trying to save a failing marriage, you need to dig deep to find the escape velocity or resolve to change your orbit.

How Big is Your Why?

Most people can change their orbit only after they find a big enough “why.”  I challenge you to take some time to sit down and seriously consider your “why,” and by that I mean, why do you want to succeed?  Is it because you want to provide better for your family, get out of debt, have money to travel or have money for retirement, or to put your children through college?

Whatever you decide is your ‘why' for choosing success, make sure that it is big enough to cause you to dig deep to bolster the energy (velocity) that will drive you to change your current orbit.

FYI: One thing to consider when discovering your ‘why.'  If your “why” is based on fear or moving away from something, you will lose your drive once you achieve your why.  You will not have the staying power to keep you moving forward.

For example, suppose that you want to pay off all of your consumer debt. In the beginning, you will take massive action and do whatever it takes to get out of debt. You will sell everything that isn’t nailed to the floor, heck maybe even your children, but you won’t stop until you win.

Now once you get your debt paid off what will happen? You will begin to coast. You will lose the drive and inertia to keep going, and you may even slip back into consumer debt.  Always try to make your ‘why' something that is based on positivity versus negativity or fear.

Persistent, Non-stop Effort

Again, the Space Shuttle was only able to escape the gravitational pull of the earth because it did not stop until it achieved its goal of sliding into another orbit.  If you are going to succeed, you absolutely must refuse to quit. You cannot give up or give in if you wish to change your orbit from failure to success.  The story goes that Col. Sanders, of Kentucky Fried Chicken fame, decided, at the age of 65, that he was not going to live on Social Security so he decided to sell his famous fried chicken recipe.

Sanders had a fried chicken recipe that he was trying to sell, and he got over 1,000 no’s before he got his first yes! How many no’s would it have taken before you gave up–100, 500, 700? Col. Sanders refused to quit, and as Napoleon Hill said, the universe finally gave in and gave Col. Sanders what he wanted.

Change Your Orbit Starting Today

You can most assuredly change your orbit from failure to success; however, it will require more than you have ever given before.
Go get a BIG YES and go after it day by day, little by little taking as much action as you possibly can, and, in time, the universe will hand over what you have been seeking. Don’t stop until you get beyond the gravitational pull of failure! Blast off towards success today!
